What is your billing type?

Fisher Evans & Associates is a private billing practice.

Do I need to pay upfront?

Yes,  payment is kindly requested at the time of your appointment (we accept EFTPOS, cash, and cheque).

Do you process the rebate on the spot?

Yes we can process the Medicare rebate on the spot.  Please note we will require a copy of your GP Referral and Plan in order to process this on your behalf.

Can I claim the rebate on both Medicare and Private Health?

No, you will need to decide if you will use Medicare or Private Health to help cover your sessions.

How long will the session last?

The initial consultation and subsequent sessions will last approximately 50 minutes.

Do you provide telehealth appointments?

Yes we provide telehealth appointments. This is an option which can be discussed between you and your psychologist to best meet your needs. We use a secure platform that is approved through the Australian Psychological Society.

Do I need a referral?

No, you do not need a referral to see us.  To commence psychological treatment, you can: 

– Make an appointment without a Referral in place.

-Make an appointment without a Referral in place and use your Private Health’s ancillary cover (please call your Fund to determine eligibility).

-Make an appointment with a Referral/ Mental Health Care Plan from either a General Practitioner, Psychiatrist, or Paediatrician and be eligible for Medicare rebates under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Scheme.  

I need to speak to a psychologist urgently.  Can I call your practice?

If your matter is urgent, or you are experiencing a crisis, please do not call our practice.

I need to mail a letter to your practice. What is the best address?

Our address for correspondence is  PO Box 5283, Kingston ACT 2604.    Please note our physical address (6/63 Giles Street, Kingston ACT 2604) is not suitable for mail as we do not have a letterbox on the premises.

Is your practice wheelchair friendly? 

Yes, our practice is located on the ground floor.  There is a door that needs to be pushed and pulled however our Reception can assist with the door.  Regarding the rooms, there are no internal steps, and the corridors/ doorways are wide enough for wheelchair access.  

I need to cancel my appointment.  What is the best way to do this?

You can cancel your appointment by:

-Calling 02 6126 5505 (Reception’s direct line).   If we miss your call, please leave a voicemail, and we will get back to you as soon as possible. 

-Emailing “fisherevanspsy@gmail.com”

Please note we require a minimum 24 hours notice so we can notify the relevant clinician, and re-allocate the appointment to someone who might be waiting.  If we receive a cancellation within the 24 hours, or you do not attend your appointment, a 50% service fee will apply.  Please note Medicare do not cover non-attendances or cancellations. 

Please note we send an email reminder for appointments but you can request a reminder call for your appointment from Reception.
